Before & After Care Tips

The Quick-Prep Guide

Well prepped skin and diligent aftercare are the secrets to a flawless tan. Follow this quick guide to know how to properly prep for your appointment and how to maintain that gorgeous glow.

Step 1: The Prep (24 Hours Before)

  • Exfoliate: Use an exfoliating mitt to remove dead skin. Focus on elbows, knees and ankles.

  • Hair Removal: Shave or wax at least 24 hours before your appointment to allow pores to close.

  • Clean Slate: Do not apply moisturisers, oils, or deodorants on the day of your tan. These create a barrier!

Step 2: The Appointment

  • Wear Loose Clothing: Think oversized dark t-shirts or sundresses. Avoid leggings, bras, or tight waistbands immediately after.

Step 3: The Initial Rinse

  • Timing: Rinse after 2 hours (or as directed by your technician).

  • The Rinse: Use lukewarm water only for 2-3 minutes (no quick 60 second rinse please!). No soaps, no shampoo, and don’t scrub.

  • Pat Dry: Gently pat your skin dry with a towel. DO NOT RUB!

Step 4: The Glow-Up (Aftercare)

  • Moisturise: Start moisturising 24 hours after your tan. This is the secret to the Nikki Mitchell “Even Fade”.

  • Avoid: Long hot baths, chlorine, and excessive sweating for the first 24 hours.
