FAQ

Spray Tans

What makes the Nikki Mitchell Premium Tan different?

The Nikki Mitchell Premium Tan range is our signature luxury service, specifically designed for high-stakes events like weddings and formals. Unlike standard solutions, this formula focuses on a natural, “olive” finish that mimics a real sun-kissed glow. It is famous for fading evenly without patchiness, ensuring you look flawless from the event through to your honey-moon or after party.

Which spray tan base is right for my skin tone?

We offer five specialized base tones to ensure a 100% natural results with no orange undertones:

  • Green Base: Best for sensitive skin and those with pink/red undertones (neutralizes redness)

  • Violet Base: Ideal for olive or warm skin tones (counteracts yellow/brassy tones for a deep bronze).

  • Caramel Base: Perfect for those with fair skin and warm undertones wanting a soft, warm, sun-kissed glow.

  • Chocolate Base: Designed for darker skin tones to provide a rich, deep, and cool-toned brown.

  • Ash Base: Best suited for individuals with cool-undertones (pink, red, bluish hues).

How long does a Spray Tan Gold Coast application take?

A professional studio appointment at our Burleigh Heads location typically takes about 15 minutes. This includes a brief consultation to choose your perfect base and a precision application by our expert techinician. I f you can’t make it to the studio, we offer a mobile spray tan service across the Gold Coast.

When should I rinse the tan off?

For the best results with our premium solutions, we recommend an initial 2-3 minute lukewarm water rinse after 2-3 hours or as directed by your technician. Avoid doing a quick 30-60 second rinse as this will not allow the tan to be completely washed off. Do not use soaps or body wash during this first rinse. Your tan will continue to develop to its full “olive” depth over the next 8-12 hours.

Lash Lift

What exactly is a lash lift?

A lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that curls and lifts your natural lashes from the base. Unlike a traditional ':perm” that uses round rods for a tight curl, a lift uses silicone shields to create a softer, more natural “L” or “C” shape that opens up the eyes.

Will a lash lift ruin my natural lashes?

No, a lash lift will not damage your lashes when performed correctly by a trained professional. Damage, such as brittleness or breakage, typically only occurs from:

  • Over-processing: Leaving chemical solutions on for too long.

  • Improper Timing: Booking appointments too close together (less than 8 weeks apart).

  • DIY Kits: Attempting the process at home without professional-grade products or training.

Can you fix over-processed lashes?

Yes! Over-processed lashes can absolutely be fixed. It is advised to wait at least 24 hours before treating the lashes so not too cause further damage to already delicate lashes. This process includes applying the lifting solution for 1-2 minutes and gently brushing the over curled lashes out until they start to relax. The lifting solution is then removed using a damp brush. This step is repeated with the setting solution. Once all steps are completed we use a fan to dry out the lashes. After care of lashes is crucial to keep them hydrated to protect them from drying out. We recommend using castrol or coconut oil or a hydrating lash serum. Wait at least 8 weeks before your next lash lift.

How long does the treatment take and how long do results last?

  • Treatment Time: The process usually takes 45 to 60 minutes.

  • Results: Your lift look will typically last 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle.

What should I do (and avoid) in the first 24 hours?

The first 24 hours is critical for “setting” the lift. During this time, you must:

  • Keep them dry: Avoid water, steam, and heavy sweating.

  • No makeup: Avoid mascara, eye creams, or oil-based products.

  • Hands off: Do not rub or touch your eyes.

  • Sleep on your back: Avoid pressing your lashes into a pillow. This goes the same if you are having a massage.

Can I still wear mascara after a lash lift?

Yes! You can resume wearing mascara 24-48 hours after your appointment. We recommend:

  • Non-waterproof formulas: Waterproof mascara is dehydrating and requires harsh rubbing to remove, which can weaken the lift.

  • Gentle removal: Use a water-based or oil-free cleanser and a soft cloth to gently wipe downwards.

How do I maintain my lashes between appointments?

Think of a lash lift like a professional hair treatment - aftercare is essential for health.

  • Condition daily: Use a nourishing lash serum (ideally one containing keratin or peptides) to keep lashes hydrated and flexible.

  • Brush them: Use a clean spoolie daily to keep lashes separated and neat.

  • Avoid lash curlers: You won’t need them, and mechanical curling can cause breakage once lashes have been chemically treated.

Is everyone a candidate for a lash lift?

Most people with medium-to-long lashes see dramatic results, but it may not be suitable if you:

  • Have an active eye infection or recent eye surgery.

  • Have extremely short or fragile lashes.

  • Are currently pregnant (we recommend consulting your doctor first due to hormonal changes affecting hair).

Can you top up your lash tint in between lifts?

Yes! You can absolutely top up your lash tint in between lash lifts. Getting a tint refresh about 3-4 weeks after a lift is a popular way to keep lashes dark and defined while waiting for the curl to grow out, as tints usually last 2-3 weeks while lifts last 6-8 weeks.
